Table Tennis

In 2020 the Parish Hall Committee purchased 2 table tennis tables to extend the amenities available to our Parish users. It was difficult to attempt to start up the Table Tennis Club during 2020 and early 2021 due to the uncertainty around when and how we could reopen the hall to all events. We are now now in a position to invite hirers and users back to the hall. A member of the Committee is now setting up a Table Tennis Club for players of all levels.

The Open Afternoon, 30th October, went very well and was thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees.

Initially, the Table Tennis Club will take place weekly - following the Open Afternoon - until Christmas week, on a Monday evening from 7 pm to 9 pm. It will be an informal session and there will be refreshments available during the evening. The cost of the Table Tennis Club entry will be £3.50 per person (to include the refreshements), per session. Paddles and balls can be provided by the Parish Hall Committee.

Dates (including any time changes) will be advertised here and current bookings can be found on our calendar.

Anyone interested in joining the Table Tennis Club but unable to attend the Open Afternoon, please contact the Parish Hall Committee (email: ssqparishhall@gmail.com) in the first instance - numbers will be limited.

The table tennis club has now closed for the Christmas/New Year break but will recommence from 10th January 2022. We look forward to seeing those who have supported the club since its inception and also look forward to seeing new faces.

What are the benefits of playing table tennis?

The Table Tennis Club at the Parish Hall is for social table tennis, in the first instance. In fact, it is likely a number of attendees will not have played the game for many years, if at all. So if you want to come along to a session and haven't played, don't be put off, you'll be in good company!

If you need an additional excuse to come along here are a number of benefits of playing the game:

  • Increases concentration and alertness

  • Stimulates brain function

  • Develops tactical thinking skills

  • Develops hand / eye coordination

  • Provides aerobic exercise

  • Provides social and recreational interaction

Come along and give it a go!
